Job 24:5-7 – “Behold, as wild asses in the desert, go they forth to their work; rising betimes for a prey: the wilderness yieldeth food for them and for their children. They reap every one his corn in the field: and they gather the vintage of the wicked. They cause the naked to lodge without clothing, that they have no covering in the cold.”
Job is speaking of people who know God, but do not follow His precepts, or work toward His purposes. Compare Job’s description of their lives with the things that his friends attribute to the wicked. Are there really believers who pillage the property of others for their sustenance? Who (throughout history or today) professes to follow Christ, yet exploits the poor and the weak for their own gain? Have you examined your own behavior in light of passages like these? Why do you desire the things you do not have? What will you do to acquire the things you lust for? The Lord gave away what was most precious to Him: His only begotten Son. Do you regularly seek the guidance of His Spirit, to see what He wants you to give to the poor and naked?
