Job 24:12-14

“Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them. They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and needy, and in the night is as a thief.”

What does the Lord have against the poor, the destitute, the sick, the lame, the homeless, and the oppressed people in the world? Are they not crying out to Him for relief? Why does He allow the suffering to continue? Do you look at someone in desperate circumstances, and assume they are in rebellion against God and are being punished? Is it possible that God’s path sometimes leads through poverty, illness, or imprisonment? Do you know what God’s intentions are for those around you? How do you know what He would have you do to help them along His chosen way? Do you always assume the answer is financial assistance? When a professing believer refuses to help as the Holy Spirit directs, thinking they know a better way, they are no better than killers or thieves.
