“According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
What kind of accomplishments are most satisfying? What have you done that made you feel your life was worthwhile? Think of a time when you knew you were in exactly the right place, doing exactly what you were created to do. Do you remember your soul soaring with joy? That is the grace of God. Paul was wise, intelligent and successful, but he knew that anything he did that really mattered was the result of God’s grace. Paul urges each of us to remember this as we do our part to cultivate the Lord’s Harvest. Are you working in your own strength? Are you building on Christ’s firm foundation? Your world may be in turmoil, or you may be living in peace and comfort. Your physical circumstances are not the indicators of your true standing. Are you firmly rooted in Christ, living each day by God’s grace?
